How recognition points work

Two separate point balances, so it's worth being clear on both.

Your giving allowance

Every month you're given 2,450 points to give away to colleagues. This is a budget, not a balance — it doesn't roll over, and it isn't yours to redeem in the shop.

You currently have 1,950 points left to give this month.

Points you've earned

When a colleague recognises you, the points they give come out of their allowance and land in your balance instead — 2,450 points so far. These are yours to redeem in the shop, same as any other benefit balance.

You've received 12 recognitions and given 8 so far.

What if I go over my allowance?

You can still send a recognition that exceeds your remaining allowance for the month — it just gets flagged for your manager to approve before the points land with the recipient.

Why separate the two?

If giving and earning shared one balance, recognising someone would cost you your own rewards — that would make people stingier with recognition, not more generous.
